air conditioner it is important to look beyond SEER
If SEER-Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating- and
price are all you consider you could have more problems than
you expect. The SEER tells you how efficiently a central air
conditioner can operate. Each SEER represents the number of
Btus of cooling per watt, no matter which brand you choose. So,
the higher the Btu number, the more cooling you get per watt.
But in an attempt to keep the SEER ratings
uniform the SEER on the unit sticker is determined in a test
laboratory under ideal conditions.
Before you buy consider the following

Quality of the
installation.
Efficiency can be lost if the equipment isn’t
installed properly. And since no two situations are exactly

An oversized unit can drop the
temperature so rapidly that it doesn’t remove enough

you choose the one that is right for you. Warranties vary from
one manufacturer to another. Remember, even the most reliable
air conditioner can break down.
Two different quotes for the exact same system is
not necessarily like comparing apples to apples. An air
conditioner with the same SEER rating installed by different
companies can have very different results due to the factors
